About
LoopPlay is an audio player for music practice with A-B loop functionality, available on macOS, iOS, and iPadOS.
Frequently Asked Questions
What audio formats are supported?
MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A, and FLAC.
How do I set an A-B loop?
Click or tap on the waveform to set the loop start point, then again for the end point. Use the loop button to toggle looping on/off.
How do I add music files?
- macOS: Drag and drop files or folders into the app, or use the folder open button.
- iOS/iPadOS: Use the file picker to select audio files from your device or connected cloud storage.
OneDrive or Google Drive folders are grayed out and can't be selected on iOS/iPadOS.
This is not a LoopPlay limitation — the OneDrive and Google Drive apps don't yet support iOS's folder selection feature. For the same reason, no app on iOS — not just LoopPlay — can select folders from these two services.
You can use one of these workarounds:
- Use a location that supports folder selection — iCloud Drive and Dropbox both support folder selection properly. If you keep your music in one of these locations, LoopPlay can open the folder directly.
- Copy to "On My iPhone" — In the Files app, copy files from the OneDrive or Google Drive folder into a folder under "On My iPhone", then select that folder in LoopPlay.
This restriction only applies to iOS/iPadOS — on macOS, all of these services open as regular folders without any issue. Once OneDrive and Google Drive update their apps to support folder selection, LoopPlay will be able to use them automatically.
Where is my data stored?
All data is stored locally on your device. LoopPlay does not use any cloud services or collect any personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I clear the cache?
- macOS: Cache files are stored in
~/Library/Caches/LoopPlay/and can be safely deleted. - iOS/iPadOS: Deleting and reinstalling the app will clear all cached data.
The detected BPM doesn't seem accurate.
BPM is automatically detected using audio analysis, so it may not always be perfectly accurate. You can click or tap the BPM display to manually enter the correct value.
